Electron Beam Melting (EBM)

Camplex offer a part service using EBM Electron Beam Melting a method for functional metal parts to be grown in titanium. The EBM process is unique in that it produces metal parts with 100% density and material properties are better than cast metal. Printing speed using EBM is also much faster than other similar technologies (3-4 times).

Choosing Additive Manufacturing for production provides great benefits for the entire production value chain. The geometrical freedom allows you to engineer/design your part as you envision it, without manufacturing constraints. This can be translated to extreme light-weight designs, reduced part counts or improved bone ingrowth for an orthopedic implant. It is also a fast production route from CAD to a physical part with a very high material utilization and without the need to keep expensive castings or forgings on stock.

The Arcam EBM process use an electron beam that is managed by electromagnetic coils providing extremely fast and accurate beam control that allows several melt pools to be maintained simultaneously – Arcam MultiBeam™.takes place in vacuum and at high temperature, resulting in stress relieved components with material properties better than cast and comparable to wrought material.
